What To Expect At Your First Visit

The first session sets the stage for the work we will do together. Not only do I get to know you, but you also get to know me as well. This is an important first step before the "hard work" of therapy begins. There will be some paperwork, but the majority of the session will be devoted to learning what it is you hope to gain from your therapy experience and learning how I can help you achieve YOUR specific goals. Know that it is completely acceptable if you feel overwhelmed or are not quite sure what you want to work on, or where to start - my goal is to make sure that you leave the first session with a sense of direction, hope, and experience some relief from your current distress. There is no expectation for you to "tell all" at the first session either - rather the first session just sets the foundation of trust and rapport.
